This video app personalizes sales messages, tracks who watches

Early-stage startup OneMob is backed by Salesforce Ventures, allied with Cisco.

Here's a unique way to make an impression on a prospect. Instead of sending a conventional email or leaving a voicemail to follow up after a sales meeting, why not send a quick video message instead?

That's the purpose of an app from early-stage startup OneMob, co-founded by former Salesforce manager Sati Hillyer, who is the CEO. The company is backed with around $900,000 in seed money from Salesforce Ventures and angel investors including Tim Draper and former DocuSign CEO Steve King, he said.

The technology, first released last fall, works in collaboration with the Salesforce customer relationship management service. It lets someone record short videos, brand them with a corporate logo, and send them via text or email without clogging up the intended recipient's inbox. When the message is viewed, that information is automatically tracked. "The value is that you don't need to attach a big file or publish it to YouTube," Hillyer said.
