Managed Services
- Iformata provides managed services and network solutions for both telepresence and videoconferencing solutions. The company currently supports the Polycom Real Presence Experience (RPX), Polycom Telepresence Experience (TPX), Polycom videoconferencing endpoints (both HD and SD) and other standards based videoconferencing endpoints.

The company currently manages telepresence and videoconferencing systems in all 50 states, 22 foreign countries and has a database of over 3,500 conferencing end-points profiled in a proprietary database for client connections.  Iformata's physical infrastructure includes three VNOCs (Video Network Operations Centers) in Stavanger, Norway, Hampton, Virginia and a recently expanded facility at the company's headquarters in Dayton, Ohio.  Near future plans have the company opening VNOCs in both London, England and Bangalore, India.

Complementary Network Service include:

  • Scheduling - Clients can schedule meetings either through the company's on-line reservation system, a touch pad in the room or a toll free (800) number, automatically connecting the appropriate remote site(s) at the right time.  Reservations call also be made through Microsoft Outlook/Lotus Notes, Instant Messenger, email and the Iformata web portal.  The service also includes concierge-class reservation support, help desk support, proactive monitoring of all endpoint/network elements and a true QoS network.

  • Reporting - The Iformata VNOCs provide monthly reports summarizing all video meetings.  Clients are able to use the data to create charge-back mechanisms for departments or regional divisions.

  • Remote Monitoring - Automated remote monitoring agents poll telepresence system components at set intervals to validate operational integrity.  They check the power controller, all codecs, camera control units, projectors, monitoring cameras and the audio system.  Proactive monitoring of system electronics including routine polling and traps.  Informational, minor, major and critical notifications can be sent from the Iformata system if a problem is found.  The Network Management Stations (NMS) in the Iformata VNOC respond to audible alarms for incident alert, event escalation, and resolution.  Proactive management of network facilities is also available.

  • Secure Virtual Private Network (VPN) - The company utilizes a secure overlay VPN solution.  The Iformata VPN handles bandwidth management at each location with proactive monitoring and 24/7 customer support.

  • Telepresence Exchange (CoIN) - The Iformata Telepresence Exchange is a telepresence Community of Interest Network (CoIN).  A Telepresence CoIN provides connectivity not only between an organization's branch offices but also between other members of the CoIN.  There are currently hundreds of telepresence end points, including many Fortune 1000 clients, that can be reached over the Iformata Telepresence Exchange.  In addition, the CoIN offers access to 3500 videoconferencing end-points in the Iformata database. The Iformata telepresence CoIN includes connectivity to publicly available telepresence systems run by PangeAir LLC in New York's Waldorf-Astoria, Dayton, OH, and Indianapolis, IN with more locations planned for 2008.

  • Perpetual Advantage - PerpetualAdvantage is an Iformata service that delivers the availability of VNOC managed services to traditional videoconferencing systems.  It is designed to provide customers with unlimited point-to-point calling between any of their video conferencing rooms for a fixed monthly cost.  It also features access to Iformata's reservation system and multipoint videoconferencing bridging environment while enabling flat rate telecommuncation costs for an organization.  IP videoconferencing end-points are able to connect via gateway to other videoconferencing endpoints using ISDN for an additional usage charge.

  • Pricing - Iformata provides flat-rate managed services for Polycom telepresence end-points based on the number of screens supported (2, 3 or 4).  The company also supports traditional videoconferencing end-points for a flat-rate under its PerpetualAdvantage service. IP network services for both telepresence and videoconferencing end-points are also available for a flat-rate, which depends on the physical distance from the client to the Iformata network.  Specific pricing information is available directly from the company.

Telepresence Options Analysis

Iformata has strong telepresence DNA coursing through its wires.  The company is the result of a divestiture of Destiny Conferencing (formerly TeleSuite), the first commercially successful telepresence provider.  The intellectual property and manufacturing capabilities for Destiny Conferencing's TeleSuite telepresence environment were sold to Polycom in January of 2007, becoming the Polycom Real Presence Experience (RPX).

The Destiny Conferencing Video Network Operations Center and network assets were divested during the transaction and merged into Iformata communications, an ISP and software development firm also owned by the principals of Destiny Conferencing.  In addition to providing managed VNOC and inter-networking solutions for corporate clients under the Iformata brand, the company also private-label managed VNOC and inter-networking solutions for another prominent solution provider in the industry. Iformata is currently looking to expand the reach of their private-label VNOC services further.

Iformata remains well-positioned as telepresence continues to gain mainstream acceptance and wider deployment.  The company is exploring the support of additional telepresence end-points and building a telepresence exchange that would allow clients to cost effectively connect their networks to the Iformata network at multiple points around the globe.
