Screensharing Added to WebRTC Leader IceLink: From Any Device Across All Platforms
Frozen Mountain is pleased to announce that it has added support for screensharing to their WebRTC product, IceLink, on all platforms - both browser and native.
Frozen Mountain is pleased to announce that it has added support for screen sharing to their WebRTC product, IceLink, on all platforms - both browser and native - covering Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer (Windows), Safari (Mac), Windows (.NET), Mac, Java, iOS, Android and Xamarin.
"As our own natively written WebRTC stack, IceLink has always been fully customizable as to where media is captured from and where it is rendered to, even allowing you to write your own custom providers," said Ted Venema, VP of Business Development for Frozen Mountain. "What we have now added is an 'out-of-the-box' video provider that captures screen images and sends them through standard IceLink WebRTC connections."
The addition of screen sharing is welcome news for organizations that carry out virtual meetings or remote client training. IceLink allows users to build their own applications in order to achieve WebRTC freedom - on any device across all platforms.
IceLink already incorporated audio/video conferencing and file transfers through reliable data channels in previous releases. Now with screen sharing capability, users have the ability to seamlessly meet with peers or clients through either traditional audio/video or screen sharing methods, wherever they are in the world.
Whether it's for collaboration on a document with coworkers or a live training session walking a client through a procedure on your screen, IceLink makes working from anywhere a breeze.
For security reasons, iOS and Android only allow access to the window of the application, so sharing is limited to that level in those environments. Web browsers and native desktop applications can share their entire screen.
The release of screen sharing completes the functionality being delivered as part of the IceLink 2 series of releases. IceLink 3 has now begun development and will include a number of new features including h.264 support and "out-of-the-box" recording capabilities.
