TwinBot Launches Indiegogo Campaign
Video conferencing and Skype video calls are common and widely used today. Now prepare for the next step in mobile communication: Live video streams from your tablet or smartphone combined with the ability to move around freely everywhere you like.
Imagine, you could be in different locations at the same time without leaving your desk, your sofa, your hammock - well, you get the idea. You don't even have to move, you simply direct a telepresence robot to any place you want to go: Let it roam around your office, check on your holiday cottage, monitor a manufacturing hall, even catch the dog sleeping on your favorite armchair.
Sounds like a pie in the sky? Introducing Nolodesign's new invention twinBot, a remote-controlled telepresence robot that helps you to have conversations via video stream from and to almost anywhere on the planet. How, you ask? On a securely mounted, eight-inch Android tablet this agile rolling robot cruises around while screening a live video of its user, so you have eyes and ears everywhere you need them. Various sensors allow the twinBot to move effordlessly and to keep its balance, same way as a Segway transporter.
Via internet, live images from the robot's camera are streamed directly to the controller, and vice versa, a video of the controller is displayed on the twinBot's tablet. This way bot drivers can interact with colleagues, staff, friends or family members (or tell off the dog) and move around freely, just as if they were in the same place. All signals are transmitted via WiFi or 3G. To control and pilot your mechanical assistant, you just download the twinBot app. The app runs on tablets, laptops, PCs and smartphones. After that, simply log in, connect to your personal twinBot and drive off to chat with people hundreds of miles away.
Development of the twinBot is almost completed, and Nolodesign is currently working on a sophisticated new remote app to make navigating the robot as plain and simple as possible. Sounds intriguing? The crowdfunding campaign for the twinBot has just started on indiegogo.com. Our funding goal: to raise 25 000 US Dollars. Starting at 599 $, the twinBot can be financed and pre-ordered here:
Should the campaign be successful, the first batch of twinBots will be produced in August this year. Delivery is scheduled for September/October 2015. .
The inventor, Nolodesign, is dedicated to developing smart devices for technology fans. While creating a self-ballancing transporter the idea for the twinBot was born: It was so much fun to stear the prototype through the office corridors via remote-control that the inventors decided to construct a production-ready version. Their vision: to make telepresence robots available and affordable to all of us.
