StarLeaf Launches Industry's First Video Session Border Controller
StarLeaf revolutionizes direct video calling for UC users with its video-first SBC, which is purpose built for secure and direct, any-to-any video collaboration
StarLeaf, video conferencing and calling service provider and endpoint manufacturer, announces the StarLeaf SBC 6350, the first purpose built session border controller to solve the interoperability issues that exist today between disparate UC environments, delivering direct video calling between Microsoft Lync, Cisco's CUCM and all standards-based video systems, H.323 and SIP.
StarLeaf's SBC 6350 is designed to protect and secure an organization's network while delivering any-to-any direct video calling across internal networks or out over the Internet. Specifically, the StarLeaf SBC 6350 enables direct instant video calling for all UC scenarios including:
- Microsoft Lync and Cisco CUCM within the same organization
- Microsoft Lync and Cisco CUCM between different organizations
- Microsoft Lync to any H.323/SIP video equipment or software, allowing direct calls to internal and external systems
Unlike traditional voice SBCs and video gateways, the StarLeaf SBC 6350 offloads any required media processing to the StarLeaf Cloud to take advantage of the economies of scale of centralized, robust and scalable network computing resources. Provisioning and policy management, including dial plan rules and black/white lists, whether the enterprise has one or several SBCs, is accomplished through a single management console. Ideal for enterprises and service providers alike, the StarLeaf SBC can be deployed as a hardware appliance or as a virtual machine.
"With every innovation and step we take forward, we make video collaboration easier and more natural for professionals to use - our approach will always be to eliminate barriers," said Mark Loney, CEO StarLeaf. "The SBC 6350 does just that; it is an advanced solution which will preserve an organization's current investments in UC, while enabling it to scale video and most importantly connect people to people whether they are on the same platform, on a different platform or somewhere else in the world. We just make it work."
Industry pundit and analyst Dave Michels, Principal at TalkingPointz said: "StarLeaf takes a new and unique approach to solving an old problem. The SBC concept is proven for voice, and StarLeaf makes it more practical for video with a cloud-premises hybrid approach. The result is fewer barriers to visual communications, and it will facilitate any-to-any meetings without reducing the conversation to a 'meet-me' format."
StarLeaf brings people together through the power of video conferencing and calling. With a global footprint, StarLeaf is a service provider and manufacturer with both video conferencing services and a comprehensive range of video endpoints for meeting rooms, desktops and mobility. http://www.starleaf.com
