Latest Telepresence and Visual Collaboration News:
15 Hot Exhibits You Need to See at InfoComm 2014
Once again, Telepresence Options is ready to take InfoComm by storm. Last year's event drew over 35,000 attendees from 110+ countries and 937 exhibitors to Orlando, so expectations are high for this next week in Las Vegas. In other exciting news, the 2014 Edition of the TPO Magazine has just been released, and being shipped to Vegas as we speak, to make its print debut at the big event.
Looking back now, our assessment of InfoComm's Trends in 2013 wasn't too far off. Prices are going down, partnerships are becoming increasingly attractive and Lync is happening. In addition to reporting on the trends, last year we also gave out our "Best of Show" awards to the most interesting and innovative technologies. We will be sure to check in with last year's winners to see how things are developing.
But we expect a lot more than simple updates from the regular VC players. With the visual collaboration industry's incredible growth over the last year, this InfoComm promises to be different. Rather than the standard fare of annual updates and new features, many of the vendors we cover are offering completely new types of solutions and offerings. We also have a lot of newer companies in the space that we can't wait to take a closer look at.
As expected, some vendors are keeping things under tight wraps until they are ready to make their big InfoComm announcements. But, fortunately for us, some of the hottest players in the industry were willing to share, at least a portion, of what they will be showing off at the big show. We received a mind boggling amount of materials, which are summarized below. Please read through for a taste of what we expect to see at InfoComm, and check back as we may have more to share as we continue to receive updates and information from visual collaboration exhibitors.
Array Telepresence (Booth N2957)
Array Telepresence will be having its first public exhibition of their Equal-i Technology. We're interested to see the Dual Camera and Image Improvement Processor - elevating traditional video conferencing systems to immersive telepresence quality environments. Array's Equal-i Technology brings participants "up close and personal" by increasing the pixel count on the farthest participant six times, concealing the camera, improving the eye-line, and powering dual displays using a single codec. Array is scheduling 10 minute demos by signing up here.
Avteq (Booth N1839)
We're so excited to see the ELT-1500 Slimline AV Stand from Avteq. This product is actually a finalist in the 2014 SCN InfoComm Installation Product Awards in the Most Innovative Videoconferencing Furniture Product category. The ELT-1500 was introduced back in June 2013 and is the slimline addition to Avteq's popular Elite Series cart line. The ELT-1500S supports one display up to 60", and the ELT-1500L can accommodate two displays up to 42". Each includes a speaker module, display mount, and an adjustable camera shelf allowing the flexibility to mount the camera above or below the display. We also look forward to checking out the brand new Teamspace in their booth!
Blue Jeans Network (Booth N2433)
Of course, we're already fans of their products, but at this year's InfoComm Blue Jeans will be showcasing a new meeting recording feature, including recording, sharing, and online playback. We're excited to see their new mobile app releases for iOS and Android and the latest Microsoft Lync integration. Plus, if you're looking for something cool to do, stop by their booth to have your caricature drawn over Blue Jeans, from a remote location.
ClearOne (Booth N1827)
At Telepresence Options, we're always looking forward to see what ClearOne will be showcasing. This year, ClearOne will be introducing the CONNECT Dante network bridge - simple and scalable audio networking with no need to change existing hardware. The modular audio networking approach uses CONNECT network audio bridges with ClearOne's flagship family of CONVERGE Pro & SR products, allowing users to easily build a scalable system over time.
Additionally, ClearOne will feature their COLLABORATE Room Pro, a standards-compliant video conferencing system that delivers every media requirement. We also look forward to seeing Spontania, a cloud for video conferencing and collaboration infrastructure.
With so much changing technology these days, Compass helps businesses get more out of their technology purchases by offering a number of telepresence training courses. This year they are launching their Technology Sandbox - granting students one year of access to video infrastructure and endpoint products running the latest software, including UCM, IM&P, Expressway Core & Edge, VCS Control & Expressway, Conductor, MCU's, TMS, video Endpoints and more. Students attending Compass classes at InfoComm will be able to use the Technology Sandbox during class.
Draper (Booth C7425)
In a unique spin this year, Draper plans to theme their exhibit around the hidden element. We're excited to see their stealthy products, such as the Video Conferencing Camera Lift-Ceiling, which allows the placement of a video conferencing camera directly behind a motorized projection screen; the camera raises and lowers with the screen. Draper also plans to feature the Video Conferencing Camera Lift-Credenza, which hides the camera in virtually any conference room furnishing, ready to be raised at any time by simple remote operation. Additionally they'll offer the Video Conferencing Camera Adapter Bracket, which allows a video conferencing camera to be mounted in a Draper ceiling recessed projector lift so the camera can be positioned above the screen.
iRobot (Booth N1813)
We always love seeing telepresence robots wondering the aisles at these industry shows. This year, iRobot will feature the Ava 500, an easy-to-use, self-driven, video collaboration robot that promises to change the way business is conducted. Remote users will be able to establish a physical presence, have complete freedom of movement, and immediately enjoy the experience of "being" anywhere in the world.
Mersive (Booth N2537)
Over and over again, we're seeing another big trend in our industry being the idea of bring 'n fling. Mersive's Solstice 2.0 is the next generation of their award-winning collaboration software. Solstice connects any number of users to any display to share any application, content or media file from any wireless device. The new 2.0 features include an enhanced user interface, iOS mirroring and AirPlay support, and the ability to dynamically select access control options without interrupting the session in progress. Mersive is offering demos and a free 30-day trial by clicking here.
Minrray (Booth N2426)
This year at InfoComm, Minrray will be focusing on their USB3.0 HD series camera. This camera, which makes videoconferencing faster and more convenient, combines exceptional quality and user simplicity to make video communications a more productive, true-to-life experience. We love these cameras for their ability to assist users in collaborating more effectively, making quicker, more informed decisions remotely and strengthening customer relationships.
Phoenix Audio Technologies (Booth N2438)
The Spider, Phoenix's innovative SIP based IP conference phone will be a main focus in their booth for InfoComm. The Spider can also communicate through USB interface with any computer under any operating system. This allows it to serve as both an IP conference phone and a soft video application speakerphone. This was a popular product when unveiled at Enterprise Connect this year and we expect a good showing at InfoComm as well.
Prysm (Booth N1115)
Prysm will be showing off their Cascade collaboration solutions and a 4K UHD video wall at this year's InfoComm. The Cascade video wall is an all-in-one, touch enabled plug-and-play solution. Check out their ability to allow users to display, share, reposition, resize annotate, and edit all types of content on screen - for a truly unique collaboration experience. In addition, we're looking forward to seeing the impressive 4K UHD video wall - measuring 15 feet wide by 9 feet high! This 5-degree curved canvas was built on the foundation of Prysm's Laser Phosphor Display (LPD) technology. Even more impressive, the 4K UGD consumes as much as 75% less power than legacy large format display solutions.
SMART Technologies (Booth N2947)
If you read our site regularly, you know that we're always a fan of new visual collaboration tools. We're so excited to see SMART Technologies new SMART kapp digital capture board. The SMART kapp allows users to write, draw, and capture ideas using dray erase SMART ink markers. The product works just like old-fashioned dry-erase boards, but enables users to instantly save their work images, convert them to PDFs, and send to anyone, anywhere, instantly. Another cool feature is the ability to follow the evolution of ideas in a SMART kapp session in real time. Notes appear in real-time on a user's own device, as well as remote participants' computers, tablets, or smart phones.
Tely Labs (Booth N1627)
Tely Labs will host live demonstrations of the latest version of its flagship product, telyHD Pro. We love the ease-of-use for this product. A simple 10-minute installation yields multi-party video conferencing, remote and local content sharing and a built-in web browser from a single, all-in-one video communications appliance - no PC required!
The telyHD Pro includes a subscription to Tely Labs' own telyCloud service, plus support for other cloud services, as well as SIP standard support for interoperability with Cisco, Polycom and other systems.
Vidyo (Booth N1521)
Vidyo will be demonstrating recently announced products including Ultra HD on the VidyoRoom HD-230 and VidyoRoom SE (Software Edition) in Booth #N1521 at InfoComm 2014. We look forward to seeing the Universal Meeting concept, where participants can enter into meetings quickly and easily regardless of what technology they are using. Additionally, the VidyoWorks platform will be on display via the contact center reference design demonstration.
Zoom (Booth C6210)
The cloud video conferencing concept continues to be hot in our industry. Zoom, one of our favorite cloud meeting companies, unifies cloud video conferencing, simple online meetings, and mobile collaboration into one easy-to-use platform. At InfoComm, Zoom will demonstrate ZoomPresence, an easy and affordable way application that runs on Mac mini with touchscreen functionality, and offers easy set up, Google and Outlook integration, 100-person meetings, 3-screen display, and content sharing. Zoom will be shown in booth C6210 along with Intelligent Lectern Systems.
Telepresence Options (Booth N139)
The TPO team will be there with copies of the new magazine (online version available free), and a lot to talk about as we plan for our upcoming website upgrade, and other big plans for the our next coverage season.
Be sure to check back during InfoComm for the big Magazine Launch, and to follow us as we live tweet from the event floor.
