The Ross School of Business Selects Solstice to Bring Visual Collaboration to its Campus

Mersive, a provider of display management and collaboration software, today announced the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan has deployed its Solstice software to enhance collaboration in its educational settings. Ross is using Solstice as an active learning tool that enables students to achieve a new level of interaction in the classroom centered on visual data that was not previously possible.

Solstice software is a visual collaboration solution that enables multiple users to connect, share and control a display simultaneously from their mobile device - phone, tablet or computer - using an existing IP network. With Solstice, anyone can walk into a classroom or meeting room and instantly create a visual collaboration session. Solstice includes the ability for multiple people to wirelessly share media on the display at one time; all the while, retaining the ability for an instructor to enter "podium" mode and take control.

This freedom of sharing media over a network allows students to collaborate easily in both study group and classroom settings. Five classes are currently being conducted using Solstice and will provide the basis for additional deployments in Fall of 2014 and through 2015.

"At the University of Michigan we're dedicated to leveraging technology to enhance and expand our active learning model," said Edward Adams, Chief Technology Officer and Director of Computing Services for the Ross School. "Solstice allowed us to achieve a new level of technical functionality without the complexity and expense that traditional hardware solutions would have entailed. In addition, both students and professors have found Solstice to be a highly useful tool in their educational environment."

Solstice's ability to provide both best in class user functionality along with enterprise class capabilities such as centralized control through the Solstice Dashboard, Solstice Directory Service to enable network management and API's to allow integration and control with existing room control panels has made it the de facto choice for AV integrators, architectural design consultants and IT management.

Paragraph 3 goes"Solstice was introduced in market March 2013 as a software-only solution that facilitates visual collaboration within a classroom or meeting room. Working with The University of Michigan to incorporate Solstice into its environment provides further evidence of Solstice's flexibility in supporting innovative use cases that take collaborative learning to the next level," said Rob Balgley, CEO of Mersive. "In the process, The Ross School of Business has enhanced their learning environment which attracts top faculty and students from around the world."
