Jive shares surge on news of Cisco partnership
Shares of Jive Software Inc. jumped nearly 10 percent early Thursday on news Cisco Systems Inc. would integrate Jive's social and collaboration platform into its WebEx and Jabber services.
The partnership represents a win for Jive, which makes communications and collaboration software, because Cisco will resell Jive products and the two will work together on future projects, according to a press release. The deal also means the end of Cisco's homegrown social-networking product WebEx Social.
Thomson Reuters' employees have already begun using the integrated Jive and Cisco platform, which enables users to automatically invite others to join and launch a WebEx video conference through Jive.
