Iowa Poll: 66 percent of Iowans against telemed abortions
Two-thirds of Iowans think the state should not allow doctors to use a telemedicine system to prescribe and distribute abortion pills, a new Iowa Poll shows.
Just 27 percent of Iowans support allowing such a system.
The poll comes amid a hot debate over a video-conferencing system that Planned Parenthood doctors in Des Moines use to prescribe and dispense abortion pills to patients in outlying clinics. The Iowa Board of Medicine voted last year to ban doctors from using the system, which is the first of its kind in the nation.
