Vidyo Announces Its Next Generation Integration with Microsoft Lync
Adds Superior Video Quality, Resilience, Bandwidth Management and
Interoperability to Lync Deployments
HACKENSACK, NJ - June 12, 2013 -- Vidyo, Inc., today announced a deeper level of interoperabilitybetween its personal telepresence solution and Microsoft Lync, delivering superior video performanceand capability inside the Lync client experience.
Vidyo's next generation Microsoft Lync plug-in will deliver:
- An integrated Vidyo experience which makes the Lync client a true standalone Vidyo endpoint
- Immersive multiparty layouts including Active Speaker and Continuous Presence at up to1440p30 within the native Lync environment
- Interoperability with legacy video conferencing solutions
- The ability to integrate VidyoRoom endpoints, Mac users and iOS/Android mobile users into aLync call
- Advanced bandwidth management tools
- Superior resiliency for reliable performance over unmanaged networks
Organizations that have standardized on Microsoft Lync for presence, instant messaging and voiceservices will be able to introduce these additional capabilities without re-training users or managingmultiple desktop applications. Vidyo also supports Active Directory integration for simplified usermanagement, an Outlook plug-in for single click scheduling and browser-based access using InternetExplorer. The new Vidyo Plug-In for Lync will be available for free to Vidyo customers with a currentmaintenance agreement. The new Vidyo Microsoft solutions will be available as part ofVidyoConferencing 3.0 scheduled for release in Q3 2013 and are being demonstrated at InfoComm2013, in Orlando, Florida, June 12 - 14, Booth # 1581.
The new Vidyo Plug-In for Lync supports both Lync 2010 and 2013 and uses Microsoft's APIs to deliverthe Vidyo experience inside a Lync desktop client enabling users to seamlessly complement Lync'senterprise grade UC (unified communication) offering with Vidyo's high-quality video collaboration in asingle client.
This includes the ability to view more conference participants in larger windows with choice ofimmersive layouts, to simultaneously share at 1080p resolution and select content from multiplecontributors, and to easily bring non-Lync users and devices into a visual collaboration session, whilekeeping the native Lync user experience conventions (invite a contact with a 'drag and drop' or with aright click, and one-tap escalation of a group chat into a multiparty Vidyo conference).
"The combined strengths of Vidyo and Microsoft provide Lync users with ease of use, interoperabilityand a level of video communications and collaboration that is unmatched in the Microsoft universe,"said Amir Shaked, Vidyo's Senior VP of Product Management. "Vidyo's plug-in solution provides userswith a unified Lync experience while enhancing the overall quality of their video and allows participantsto fully collaborate in video calls with mobile iOS and Android devices, Vidyo endpoints and legacyH.323/SIP video systems."
With the new Vidyo Plug-In, Lync users can also invite non-Lync users or other guests to join their videocalls via click-to-connect links that launch Vidyo inside web browsers including MS Internet Explorer,Apple Safari, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. For scheduled meetings, Vidyo delivers a plug-in forMicrosoft Outlook enabling users to turn any meeting into a Vidyo meeting with the same click-toconnectlinks. This makes it possible for anyone to join a Lync user conference call by simply clicking on aURL.
VidyoConferencing 3.0 also provides several key integrations with Microsoft infrastructure products toease deployments by IT departments. The solution delivers back end infrastructure and managementtools that support single sign on user management through Active Directory integration, MicrosoftWindows Installer (MSI) support to push out desktop components, and OS support for Windows XPthrough Windows 8.
Vidyo's patented VidyoRouter architecture and VidyoWorks platform enable easy integration andinteroperability with a variety of leading business applications. In addition to support for Microsoftenvironments, Vidyo also supports integrations with other leading vendors.
