Citrix adds IM and video chat to Skype rival Podio
New features will help speed up projects and boost collaboration, company claims
Virtualisation giantCitrix Systemshas introduced new instant messaging (IM) features to its Podio platform, as well as video and audio chat.
The company claims adding the new features, dubbed Podio Chat, onto its collaboration platform, which it acquired in April 2012, will allow teams to respond quicker and make decisions faster, even when they are in a distributed environment.
Bernardo de Albergaria, vice president and general manager of SaaS products and markets at Citrix, said: "Any effective team will tell you that the key to success is having an open and accessible communications.
"Podio chat bridges the gap between 'real time' and 'my time', increasing the velocity of communications within Podio and making purposeful collaboration happen faster and more effectively - no more waiting for answers."
Citrix further claims Podio is now the first collaboration service to provide IM and video chat "in context", meaning users can identify which of their collaborators are online, whether they are inside their organisation or are external partners, such as contractors and suppliers.
