InFocus launches BigTouch, a 55-inch, $5,000 PC
Just try getting this through airport security.
Tigard-based InFocus Corp.unveiled a 55-inch, high-def Windows 8 PCthis morning, doubling down on big computers at a time when most hardware companies are thinking small.
InFocuspitches the $5,000 BigTouch as ideal for digital signs, educators, and software demonstrations. It comes with Microsoft Office and a wireless keypad and a mouse, but it's designed to take advantage of the touch-screen capabilities built into Microsoft's latest operating system.
The new machine is a scaled-back version -- in features, not size -- ofInFocus' Mondopad, which the company released in 2011. The BigTouch is $1,000 cheaper than the Mondopad and lacks the video conferencing hardware and collaboration software that comes with the Mondopad.
