TAMPA, Fla. - November 15, 2012 -

AVI-SPL today announced Mike Brandofino, executive vice president of video and unified communications, has joined the Open Visual Communications Consortium (OVCC) board of directors. The consortium is a group of leading service and solution providers creating the blueprint to deliver high-quality video collaboration that connects any vendor, any network and any device, anywhere.

Brandofino joined AVI-SPL in May 2009 to drive the company's initiatives for industry leadership in video and unified communications (UC) services. Brandofino has over 18 years of experience in the video communications space, accelerating collaboration strategy and innovation.

"I'm proud to join the OVCC board to help advance interoperable solutions for visual communications," said Brandofino. "I look forward to sharing my expertise to achieve the OVCC mission to expand, simplify and accelerate video communications while preserving and even increasing the value of enterprise customers' existing video investments."

The OVCC group is the first to establish policies, procedures, and standards to enable seamless business-to-business and eventually business-to-consumer collaboration via a multi-vendor, multi-network visual communication exchange. The any network, any vendor, any device exchange is dedicated to simplifying video calls by enabling video calls outside of corporate firewalls and across proprietary video platforms. More than 30 leading manufacturers of video platforms make up the OVCC group.

AVI-SPL brings together a portfolio of services ranging from supplying standards-based videoconferencing and telepresence solutions to managed services, including monitoring, management, and reporting of endpoints and infrastructure, comprehensive meeting services and managed bridging services. The OVCC group and AVI-SPL have a natural synergy in their shared goal of providing video conferencing around the world, regardless of vendor, network or device.

"We're pleased to welcome Mike Brandofino to the OVCC board of expert industry leaders committed to advancing visual communications," said Andrew McFadzen, president of the OVCC.
