VCI-Group Annual Event Covered Videoconferencing Trends and Market Direction

The 3rd Annual Visual Communications Industry Group (VCI-Group) Conference drew to a close Wednesday Oct 24th in Monterey, at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa. Collaboration Your Way, the theme of the Conference, covered industry trends and what the future holds, and focused on BYOE, Bring Your Own Everything; the phenomenon of end users bringing their own videoconferencing end points, applications and networks to contemporary videoconferences.

The Conference gave users, consultants, analysts, CEO's, design engineers, administrators, and startups from a multitude of industries together to collaborate, educate, and network. Discussions focusing on BYOD policies, the state of telepresence, analytics, grant funding, UC, interoperability, streaming, and end user experience. Todd Hughes, VCI Director, said "the conference, just as our industry, had a buzz and was full of energy. Ideas flowed freely, people shared passionately about what and how they collaborate." He continued to say, "It was impressive to see the pillars of the industry side by side with emerging companies. Our industry is successful because of the old and the new, they push each other to improve our technology and the overall user experience."

Analysts from Wainhouse Research, TeleSpan Publishing Corporation, and Telepresence Options were also in attendance.

The VCI-Group is the knowledge-sharing community that shapes the Visual Communications Industry and is a community comprised of 450+ end-users and vendors focused on videoconferencing, telepresence, Unified Communications and/or collaboration technology. Membership consists of individuals from organizations that make visual communications purchasing decisions or recommendations and create implementation strategies, and/or support the technology.
