Virtual Video Room (VVR) 2.0 service provides simple video calling between iPad2 users and participants on standards-based telepresence systems

MURRAY HILL, N.J., Nov. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/
-- Glowpoint, Inc., a leading global provider of cloud managed video services, today announced that its Virtual Video Room (VVR) 2.0 service now supports video calls for mobile participants using Apple's iPad2.

Glowpoint's VVR 2.0 allows iPad2 users to participate in multipoint video conferences to collaborate visually with colleagues, customers, suppliers and partners who are utilizing immersive telepresence, conference room, and executive desktop video systems. Once iPad2 users are registered to the VVR 2.0 service and OpenVideo cloud, they can connect over video anytime from anywhere that Wi-Fi internet or 3G or 4G wireless service is available using a private six digit code.

Glowpoint's VVR, which was fully launched in March of this year, has steadily gained market momentum - with users logging over 110,000 minutes of usage to date. The VVR is a meet-me' service for videoconferencing and telepresence that is fully hosted from the OpenVideo cloud, enabling business customers to hold high-definition, multipoint, business- to-business video calls without investing in on-premise infrastructure or support.

"As the demand from companies and employees to collaborate more reliably and securely from wherever they are continues to increase, enterprise mobility is becoming a critical extension of traditional video conferencing and telepresence," said Anil Balani, Senior Vice President of Technology for Glowpoint. "We continue to expand our suite of fully cloud hosted services for mobile devices like the iPad2, allowing millions of mobile users to easily adopt and use video conferencing without the large investment that is typically required for on premise infrastructure and support."

To participate in VVR meetings, iPad2 users can download a mobile video application such the Polycom RealPresence Mobile App, which is available on Apple's iTunes Store today.

VVR 2.0 includes a web-based moderator portal that allows the meeting host to optimize the video experience for all meeting participants, including adjusting the screen layout for multipoint meetings in continuous or voice switched mode. Customers of the updated cloud service will also be able to add Microsoft Lync and OCS users to VVR meetings via a Cisco Video Communication Server (VCS) installed on the customer's network and managed from Glowpoint's OpenVideo cloud.

VVR 2.0 also adds support for content sharing for SIP and H.323 endpoints using standards-based technology (BFCP and H.239). VVR2.0 also supports internationalization and a branded lobby that can be customized to the service provider and enterprise.

To participate in a free 30 day trial of the VVR 2.0 service with an iPad2, please go to http://www2.glowpoint.com/l/3902/2011-10-18/86QVV .
