BCS Global customers to benefit from the global federation of video exchanges aimed at accelerating video adoption by connecting businesses anywhere, independent of device, network or vendor
London, UK (PRWEB) October 27, 2011 - BCS Global Networks Limited, a leading worldwide provider of managed videoconferencing, Telepresence, and visual collaboration services, today announced its participation in the Open Visual Communications Consortium (OVCC) as a founding member.
BCS Global is excited to be part of the OVCC as a founding member, and is pleased to announce that Clive Sawkins, CEO of BCS Global, has been elected to the board of officers for the positions of secretary and acting treasurer.
The breakthrough consortium is focused on providing secure, standards-based business-to-business (B2B) video collaboration to organizations and consumers connected to hundreds of service providers in countries around the world. Established as a means of protecting customers' existing investments and simplifying enterprise communication across any video device, the OVCC will fill in the gaps in the B2B inter-exchange blueprint. This will be accomplished by leveraging existing standards and best practices from industry standards rather than creating new ones.
As enterprises escalate their use of visual communications as an intra-company collaboration tool, there is now a growing need for inter-company collaboration with their customers, suppliers and partners. This is in turn fuelling the demand for public inter-company B2B video collaboration. By joining the OVCC, BCS Global is well-poised to solve a key barrier to broader visual communications adoption by enabling seamless B2B video collaboration and a broader set of managed video service capabilities through its "Global Video Exchange".
"This consortium is a groundbreaking initiative that has succeeded in bringing together service providers to interconnect their video networks providing an open, interoperable B2B visual collaboration service and global video exchange," said Clive Sawkins, CEO of BCS Global. "I am confident that this capability will remove a key barrier in enabling B2B video collaboration. This will provide a win-win situation for both the service providers and their customers, in terms of enabling a seamless and ubiquitous B2B visual collaboration service spanning the entire supply chain."
"While true that the migration of the videoconferencing industry from ISDN to IP networks helped drive costs down and performance up, it also introduced a range of technical barriers blocking B2B videoconferencing," explained Ira M. Weinstein, Analyst and Partner at Wainhouse Research. "Initiatives like the OVCC are helping users circumvent these barriers and conduct high quality videoconferences with partners, peers, and clients. BCS Global's participation in the OVCC expands the number of organizations reachable by OVCC users, which increases the value of the OVCC to all participating members."
"Our customers are looking for a simple solution to collaborate via video with people outside their organization, including suppliers, partners and customers. This enhanced service offering provides customers with a high quality alternative to traditional ISDN and Internet gateway services." said Dan Tanel, CTO of BCS Global. "Through OVCC, we have extended our reach in providing our customers with a simple new premium gateway service that delivers high-quality, reliable and seamless B2B video collaboration."
The OVCC organization model will, over time, remove the barriers to visual communications ubiquity and accelerate the use of visual collaboration. The consortium will significantly increase the business value of new and existing visual communications systems, by connecting millions of users through hundreds of interconnected service providers across six continents.
