ooVoo Now Provides Its Free HD Video Chat Service For Up To Six Users Across All Platforms Including PC, Mac, Android and now iPhone
New York (June 1, 2011) - Social video chat has now officially gone live across every major platform as ooVoo today announced the availability of its free video chat service on the iOS platform for iPhones, iPod Touches and iPads. Shortly after its launch, the app shot up to become one of iTunes' top ten free apps and the number one social networking app ahead of Facebook, Skype and Twitter.
Unlike most alternative video chat offerings, ooVoo users can now make video chat calls between up to six users from PC to iPhone, to Android phones and tablets, to Mac to any browser regardless of the platform and device they are using.
The social video chat revolution
Whether for work or play, ooVoo's network has been expanding at a record pace this year. Most notably, ooVoo users are transforming the video chat category by turning the traditional one-on-one video chat call into a social experience. Through extended group calls, video sharing, watching TV and listening to music while ooVooing, ooVoo users are fostering a new way to connect - and live - spontaneously:
- 44 percent of ooVoo users have or plan to watch TV with someone while on ooVoo
- 30 percent of ooVoo users use ooVoo to view and share YouTube videos
- 70 percent of ooVoo's Facebook fans meet new people on the ooVoo network
- ooVoo users on average have 42 live video friends on the ooVoo network
"It's clear that ooVoo users are defining the social video category using ooVoo to move beyond one-to-one video calls. Instead, ooVoo users are ushering in a new form of communication allowing more people to connect in more places, on more devices and share more experiences," said Philippe Schwartz, CEO of ooVoo. "The iOS launch furthers our mission of providing a cutting edge, hipper mobile and video chat service allowing for more simultaneous users on every platform - Android, PC, Mac, the Web, and now iOS."
