HP offers Halo studios to stranded customers for virtual meetings as ash from Iceland volcano grounds or delays more flights

PALO ALTO, Calif, May 24, 2011 - HP today announced its global Visual Collaboration "Halo" telepresence studios, which allow face-to-face meetings over video in lieu of travel, are available to HP customers affected by the eruption of Icelandic volcano Grimsvotn (GREEMSH-votn).

HP Visual Collaboration studios, located in 36 countries, are being made immediately available on a first-come, first-serve basis to HP customers who need to conduct business meetings. Customers can call their HP account managers for more information on locations and times.

"HP wants to give stranded customers the ability to continue mission-critical business and visual collaboration is a very good way to work around the travel restrictions because HD-quality face-to-face meetings can continue to take place," said Rob Scott, vice president and worldwide general manager, Visual Collaboration, HP. "The studios provide a high level of business continuity, preventing loss of productivity and, in many cases, the lost revenues that others are facing in the current gridlocked travel situation. "

The studios provide users with an unparalleled immersive meeting experience through HP's private Halo Video Exchange Network (HVEN), a network designed specifically for optimal video performance. Through the HVEN, meeting participants can depend on a consistent experience when connecting with others around the globe in multiple offices.

HP also offered its Visual Collaboration studios to customers during the volcanic ash cloud incident in April 2010.
