SYDNEY, Australia, April 14, 2011 - HP today announced it has selected Vantage Systems, a leading Australian communications services provider, to deliver HP Visual Collaboration videoconferencing as a managed, hosted, cloud service.

The offering will enable reliable, high-definition, face-to-face videoconferencing between dispersed teams anytime, anywhere. The services are expected to be available in the coming months.

The services will be offered predominantly through Vantage's existing telecommunication channels and new IT integrators looking to enter the videoconferencing market.

"With HP, Vantage will be able to help companies move to a new generation of software-based videoconferencing," said Mark Buckley, chief executive officer, Vantage. "Combined with our managed services, the solutions can lower demands on IT staff because they can be offered in the cloud with no need for expensive hardware. This makes it easy to deploy for any company, from small and medium businesses to larger firms."

Based on scalable video coding (SVC) software technology, HP's solutions manage video encoding more effectively than more traditional hardware-based approaches to videoconferencing and optimize user experiences over the Internet and customer networks.

Initially, Vantage will offer options of a set of desktop software client downloads and larger conference room systems with either one or two screens. Vantage has seen a significant growth in the take up of cloud conferencing over the last 12 months.

"We believe SVC is a more versatile encoding method than any of its predecessor algorithms and its benefits include enhanced video quality due to greatly decreased latency, as well as significantly improved network error tolerance," said Andrew W. Davis, senior analyst, Wainhouse Research.

"Vantage, with HP, is truly leading the way in Asia Pacific with timely new HD videoconferencing offerings that reduce customers' operating costs while increasing team effectiveness," said Rob Scott, vice president and general manager, Visual Collaboration, HP. "HP's technology easily enables service providers to develop and deliver Visual Collaboration services through a next-generation cloud-based platform."

Vantage joins Videocall, a top services provider in the United Kingdom, in adding HP Visual Collaboration products to its line-up. Vantage and Videocall provide fully managed, high-quality conferencing services over a pervasive, intelligent and end-to-end IP video network, accomplished by Video Operations Network Centres (vNOC) in Melbourne and London.
