Virtual Holiday Dinner - Happy New Year from Telepresence Options!

Here is a beautiful idea, beautiful song, and a beautiful execution that demonstrates the magic and potential of telepresence. Turn up the volume, smile, and ring in the New Year! Happy New Year from all your friends at Telepresence Options and the Human Productivity Lab!

This December 156 people on six different continents got to have dinner with their closest friends, loved ones, and some completely random strangers even though they were thousands of miles away. The Dutch advertising firm Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam brought everyone together for the Virtual Holiday Dinner. The company constructed 5 telepresence robots with screens (and webcam) for a head that used an open source head tracking software that allowed each guest to move their robot's head appropriately. The guests were able to log in to one of the dolls via Skype for 15 minutes and interact with others doing the same and real humans attending the dinner as well.
