Latest Telepresence and Visual Collaboration News:
DiData UK Buys Mvision
September 17, 2010 | Howard Lichtman
London- and Johannesburg-listed Dimension Data, which is being bought out for R24.2 billion by Japan-based NTT, says it has bought Mvision for an undisclosed amount.
Mvision is a UK videoconference integrator, network and managed video services provider. Dimension Data says the deal is in line with its goal to accelerate time to market in managed video, and increase penetration in the hosted UC solutions and new-generation video space.
The company says the combined entity lays down the foundation for the group to globalise its managed video services. Mvision supplies, installs, maintains and manages videoconference and TelePresence endpoints.
Ton van Horssen, MD of Dimension Data in the UK, says the "acquisition bolsters Dimension Data's ability to deliver a full suite of visual communications solutions and complements our existing converged communications proposition in the UK".
Horssen adds there is little overlap in the companies' client bases, so the opportunity for growth by leveraging both client bases is significant. In time, Mvision will be integrated into Dimension Data.
Mvision has gross assets of $4.4 million and the transaction has no material effect on Dimension Data.
