Cisco to debut Home TelePresence in October?

September 28, 2010 | Howard Lichtman

Cisco has announced that they will be debuting a new "consumer experience" on October 6th in San Francisco in an event that will be hosted by Cisco Chairman and CEO John Chambers.  The event is widely speculated to be the public launch of Cisco Home Telepresence which will bring high definition interactive video to consumer television over high-bandwidth Fiber To The Home (FTTH) and other broadband providers like Verizon Fios, Comcast, AT&T, and Grande.

Robert Lloyd, an executive vice president at Cisco, told Reuters in May that the company expects to begin selling a consumer version of its TelePresence systems later this year. He said the consumer version would likely cost about $500 each.
