U.S. Patent No. 7,742,501 Covers Unique Packet Protection Technology

IPeak_networks_logo.jpgOTTAWA - June 24, 2010 -IPeak Networks Incorporated today announced the issue of the first of several patents anticipated in connection with its advanced IPQ (Internet Performance and Quality) packet protection technology.   U.S. patent 7,742,501 confirms the company's unique leadership position as the only provider of truly high performance packet loss protection solutions for the video conferencing, telepresence, and virtualized computing markets.

"U.S. Patent No. 7,742,501 underscores our commitment and our success in driving down network costs and helping enterprises to extend the reach of real-time network applications," said Martin Horne, chief executive officer of IPeak Networks.  "By bringing MPLS-like quality to the public Internet, IPQ technology enables enterprises to take full advantage of the productivity gains and cost savings possible with video conferencing, telepresence, virtual desktops and other remote resources deployments."

Matthew Williams, IPeak Networks founder and chief technology officer, is the author of the patent and inventor of the IPQ technology.  "This has been a very long time coming but well worth the wait," said Williams.  "The issue of this patent is a sterling validation of our innovative solution to the vexing problem of packet loss in IP networks."

IPeak Networks implements the patented methods in a full line of IPQ appliance products for video conferencing and telepresence applications: IPQ VC2, IPQ Presence, and IPQ Concentrator.  An optimized version of the same IP packet protection engine is also found in the company's new line of software clients and virtual machines developed for the terminal services, server-based computing, and virtual desktop infrastructure markets.  Additional patents are pending.
