Video conferencing firm expects increased competition following Cisco-Tandberg deal.
Polycom Inc., which makes systems for video, audio and data conferencing, is working with Morgan Stanley to study strategic options that include a possible sale, Bloomberg News reports Wednesday, citing three people familiar with the situation.
The Pleasanton, Calif., company anticipates increased competition due to the pending acquisition of Norwegian rival Tandberg ASA by Cisco Systems Inc. and the proliferation of free Internet conferencing services, another source said.
Representatives of Polycom and Morgan Stanley declined to comment, Bloomberg reports.
