Allied Fiber is Building the First New Domestic Long Haul Fiber in a Decade

August 14, 2009 | Howard Lichtman

Allied_Fiber_Routes.jpgWhile many people believe that there is a glut of fiber on the planet the truth is that there is tremendous demand and most of the fiber in the ground is old and won't support the new 40GBps + modern fiber transmission mechanisms.  Allied Fiber is building the first new major domestic long haul fiber route in decade in a unique carrier neutral model where telecommunication providers can get IRUs on their own fiber and own their own regeneration equipment that can be located in carrier neutral facilities along the routes.

Here is an interview that TMC.Net's Rich Tehrani interviews Allied Fiber's Jason Cohen on how the buildout is coming along.
