December 25, 2008 | Chris Payatagool

iformata_level3.jpgBROOMFIELD, Colo., Dec. 17 -- Level 3 Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: LVLT) today announced that it has expanded its relationship with Iformata, LLC, a telepresence and video conferencing solutions provider. As Iformata's primary provider of IP services, Level 3 will deliver that company's high-bandwidth traffic via Internet protocol virtual private network (IP VPN) across its fully integrated multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) platform.

"We rely on Level 3's highly reliable and secure global network to provide our customers with the cutting-edge telepresence solutions they demand," said Brian Kinne, executive vice president of Iformata. "Level 3's enterprise solution provides us with the flexibility and scalability we need to manage the explosive growth we have been experiencing. Managed Services providers who seek to extend the boundaries of limited technologies and networks will be the winners in the long run, and our relationship with Level 3 certainly provides that benefit to us."

Brian_Kinne.jpgIformata will leverage Level 3's international backbone to deliver high-bandwidth services and provide a wide range of services that support around-the-clock availability for telepresence and video conferencing solutions to their customers. Level 3's IP VPN service enables Iformata to converge voice, video and data on a single platform with the flexibility to prioritize network application traffic by class of service. The breadth and depth of Level 3's network reach gives Iformata access to the footprint they need in anticipation of future growth.

"We are pleased to provide Iformata, a pioneer in telepresence solutions, with a reliable and secure data networking solution," said Jeff Tench, president of Level 3's Business Markets Group. "With the reliability of Level 3's IP VPN service on our newly integrated MPLS backbone, Iformata can deliver quality services to their customers with flexibility to scale easily as their needs continue to grow and evolve."

Level 3 provides enterprise businesses a cost-effective, high-performance VPN option that enables growth, with three multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) solutions now available on a single, highly stable and scalable platform. The new architecture enables delivery of Ethernet virtual private line (EVPL), virtual private LAN service (VPLS) and Internet protocol virtual private network (IPVPN) services across a single platform.
