TANDBERG Debuts Instant Telepresence

NEW YORK and OSLO, Norway, June 16, 2008 - TANDBERG (OSLO: TAA.OL), a leading global provider of telepresence, high-definition (HD) video conferencing and mobile video solutions, today unveiled the TANDBERG T1, a new standards-compliant system for instant telepresence. The single large display offers the highest video resolution available while the slim Scandinavian design makes it ideal for ad hoc telepresence meetings in executive offices and small meeting rooms.

TANDBERG_T1.jpgWith the TANDBERG T1 telepresence solution, meeting participants feel they are at the same table, no matter where they are located. To achieve this true-to-life experience, a single 65-inch, 1080p LCD screen works in tandem with a PrecisionHD 1080p camera, inverted to bring the camera closer to the screen for direct eye contact. The T1 is standards-compliant, making calls with other standards-compliant systems simple.

"As the number of companies adopting telepresence-capable systems increases, so does the need for seamless interoperability," said Andrew W. Davis of Wainhouse Research. "A system like the TANDBERG T1 can provide the high-quality telepresence experience while also leveraging existing telepresence and video conferencing investments."

Influenced by their cultural heritage, TANDBERG's engineers used Scandinavian design elements to create a simple, clean, inviting product. The innovative design is complemented by clear and simple on-screen dialing and directory choices, and easy PC collaboration capability. In keeping with TANDBERG's commitment to the environment, the T1 operates at a considerably lower than expected power consumption level.

"When we designed the TANDBERG T1, we tried to comply with the new design standards we have implemented at TANDBERG: premium, easy to use, easy on the eye, simple and appealing," said Torkel Mellingen, TANDBERG Product Design Engineer. "We wanted to use our Scandinavian design approach to portray meeting participants in the best possible way."

The TANDBERG T1 is the company's first telepresence system to incorporate the new TANDBERG Codec C90, a standards-compliant telepresence engine that enables 1080p resolution. Participants can interact and collaborate with colleagues from multiple locations in High Definition (HD) resolution while sharing rich media also in HD.

The TANDBERG Codec C90 Telepresence Engine is also available to integrators as a standalone product, features professional-grade connectors including 12 HD video inputs, four HD video outputs, and a built-in audio mixer with 16 audio inputs and eight audio outputs. With the flexibility to connect multiple sources, integrators building out a boardroom or other room environment no longer have to outsource mixers, video switchers or translators. The Codec C90 interfaces easily with standard auditorium systems without compromising audio quality.

"Telepresence is changing the way our customers collaborate on a global scale. To serve the growing adoption of telepresence, we have extended our total solution from room-based telepresence, to personal telepresence and now to instant telepresence and a telepresence engine," said Fredrik Halvorsen, TANDBERG CEO. "Through our commitment to standards-compliance, our telepresence portfolio is helping to unify organizations and put an end to telepresence as an island."

The TANDBERG T1 and Codec C90 will ship in October 2008. For more information about these TANDBERG products or to contact a TANDBERG representative, visit http://www.tandberg.com
