HaiVision, a global developer of performance video encoders and codec systems, has announced the appointment of Image Design Technology (IDT) as its primary distributor for Australia and New Zealand.

The company has already begun regional marketing for HaiVision's entire product line and will soon be introducing HaiVision's MAKO-HD technology.

HaiVision produces "the lowest latency and highest quality standard definition and high definition video H.264 compression systems available."

MAKO-HD provides imperceptible latencies and excellent full motion image quality to meet the demands of telepresence, medical, and broadcast applications.

HaiVision's MAKO-HD codec for the hai1000 multi-stream encoder/decoder system provides full frame rate high definition (HD) video with a unique 70 milliseconds of end to end latency. It supports standard resolutions of up to 1080p and supports real-time full frame rate encoding of computer source content (up to WXGA).

"HaiVision's network video products are fundamental in enabling IDT to expand our position within the traditional AV segment," said Gerry Wilkins, IDT's Managing Director and founder. "With HaiVision, we are able to better assist our partners in understanding and expanding their markets in sectors where there is a critical requirement for the highest quality of transmission such as in tele-medicine, interactive broadcast,IPTV , and telepresence."

HaiVision systems are used in highly critical medical installations for video communications and transmission on hospitals, campuses and across countries. Educational institutions use HaiVision technology for distance education courses with a continuous presence network video system that links specialized teachers to students in a variety of K-12 and higher education systems.

In support of the HaiVision range, IDT has welcomed Clinton Walker - an IT specialist - to join the dynamic team. He brings years of experience in providing IP-based solutions and offers support to all of IDT's HaiVision customers.
