Is Apple going to bring telepresence to the living room?

I've written before about the efforts of Cisco, HP and others to create next-generation teleconferencing or telepresence systems for business applications.


Now comes word that Apple has filed a patent which describes how they may bring telepresence capabilities to their AppleTV digital set-top player using a variation of their iChat video conferencing software. AppleInsider has a breakdown of what the patent covers along with more drawings of the potential functionality that may become part of future AppleTVs.
