January 2, 2008 | Chris Payatagool
filippo-passerini.jpg100 Cisco customers - among them Procter & Gamble, Verizon, Aflac, McKesson, BT and SAP have deployed expensive Cisco TelePresence systems in over 40 countries:

List price:

$299,000 for three 65-inch plasma screens in a special conference room.

$71,000 for a single-screen setup.

"It was phenomenal," said Rollin Ford - CIO of Wal-Mart, who saw a demonstration. "I believe it's a technology we will embrace."

Procter & Gamble has already launched one-third of its network of more than 40 Video Collaboration Studios using the Cisco TelePresence System 3000, allowing the P&G community of over 138,000 employees working in over 80 countries worldwide to be there without really leaving here.

"We are rocking and rolling here," says Filippo Passerini - CIO of Procter & Gamble. "To have a breakthrough in the way we operate, we needed a big leap."

"This is the most aggressive use of the technology to date and serves as an example of how to bring collaboration to the next level."

Passerini recently noted during a live telepresence session featured within the keynote presentation of the Cisco annual industry analyst conference C-Scape, that creating a business process that is communication enabled has helped P&G bring its products to market faster, helping the company to better compete.
